Why Elon Musk changes his name to Elon tusk on twitter
Ahead of a Tesla announcement on Thursday, Elon Musk changed his Twitter handle to 'Elon Tusk' to the surprise of his 25 million followers on the platform.
The move came a day after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) asked a US federal judge to hold Tesla CEO Elon Musk in contempt for violating a settlement deal reached last year.
The SEC's stance came in response to Musk's February 19 tweet that claimed "Tesla ... will make around 500k in 2019", even though the company is only slated to deliver 400,000 units this year.
Musk corrected his mistake hours later, but the regulator filed a court complaint, asking that the Tesla CEO be held in contempt for tweeting "inaccurate and material information about Tesla to his over 24 million Twitter followers".
